Excel: Change the Font Color

You can change your font color. To learn more about colors, click here. If you place a background color behind your data, make sure your font color is a color that can be easily seen. For example, if you have a black background, you might want to use white or another light font color. Excel has designated the first four columns of Theme colors for use as background and font colors; however, you are not restricted to those colors.

Change the Font Color

  1. Select the cells.

  1. Choose the Home tab.

  1. Click the down-arrow next to the Font Color button font-color in the Font group. The color gallery appears.
  2. Click the color you want. Word changes the color of your font.
