Copy and Paste

In Microsoft Word, you can copy text or objects from one area of a document and place the copied text or object anywhere in the same or another document. In other words, after you type information into a document, if you want to place the same information somewhere else, you do not have to retype it. Copy it and then paste it in the new location. As with cut data, Word stores copied data on the Clipboard. You can paste the information you stored on the Clipboard as many times as you like.

Copy

  1. Select what you want to copy. Word highlights your selection.
  2. Choose the Home tab.
  3. Click the Copy button copy in the Clipboard group. Word copies your selection to the Clipboard.

Paste

  1. Place the insertion point where you want to paste.
  2. Choose the Home tab.
  3. Click the Paste button paste in the Clipboard group. Word pastes what you last copied or cut.
